Birds of Kansas

Updates to species sight records and confirmed breeding records
through February 2018

County names following the species names have had confirmed sight records since the printing of Birds of Kansas, April 2011.  County names followed by an asterisk (*) indicate a confirmed breeding record for that species has been received since Birds of Kansas was published.  Confirmed breeding based on criteria that were used for the Kansas Breeding Bird Atlas project. Note - this list is regularly updated to match the taxonomy established by the American Ornithological Society so it may not match the species order in the book. Information concerning new species added to the Kansas Checklist can be found on the report page of the Kansas Bird Records Committee.
