Doris Burnett called me at about 1:45 PM Wednesday August 17,
2005, and reported that she was looking at a Roseate Spoonbill, foraging with
some Great Egrets in the puddle that used to be a marina at Fancy Creek State
Park (approx 39.46 degrees N, 96.76 degrees W). So Jackie Nooker and I ventured
out there, and found Doris, her new puppy, and the spoonbill all still there.
Looks like a young spoonbill; there is still some yellow on the beak.
If you want to get there from the east, you need to be aware that the bridge
across Tuttle Creek Reservoir, connecting Olsburg and Randolph, is closed.
