Make plans now to attend the KOS Spring Meeting in Western Kansas, May 1-3, 2015. We’ve planned a great weekend of birding. We will base out of Scott City, which is located about half way between Oakley and Garden City.  Scott Lake State Park lies just north of town and is listed in National Geographic Traveler as one of the top 50 state parks in the U.S., with its oasis like setting located in the picturesque Ladder Creek Canyon.

Major birding destinations for the field trips will include the Scott Lake State Park, views of the unique Monument Rocks, plus trips led by birding experts to Garden City, Wichita & Greeley Counties and Lane & Ness Counties.  County listing fans will have a fine time and it is expected that many new all-time county records will be recorded in this seldom-birded area.

Friday evening we will have a casual meet and greet with snacks at the breakfast lobby of the Best Western in Scott City 6-8pm.

Saturday May, 2nd after all-day field trips, will be the banquet at the First United Methodist Church (412 South College Street, Scott City, KS 67871), where we will have a catered meal served including:  Homemade Ham Loaf, Scalloped Potatoes, Seasoned Green Beans, Dinner Roll, Tossed Salad, Dessert and Tea & Coffee.

Note: Saturday lunch is to be on your own.  Trip leaders will provide snack/lunch stops along the way; though options may be limited.

Sunday after a ฝ day of birding, we’ll have a box lunch compilation of the birds seen on all the field trips.  Location TBD.
