Kansas Birding Festival, 2016 - Tours
Friday Afternoon: No signup is required for tours. Pick a van and a guide. Tours may visit the Milford Lake Wetlands areas, Republican River road, Kansas Landscape Arboretum or wherever good birds are being found.
Saturday Morning: Please sign up
for your preference for Saturday morning tour when you register.
Prairie Chicken Lek tour (limit 20) If this tour fills up we will
make arrangements for a Sunday morning tour as well.
Make sure to mark your availability
for a Sunday tour but the Saturday morning tour must fill first.
Please note - there are no
restroom facilities at the Prairie-Chicken leks. We highly recommend you limit
your intake of coffee
and other liquids prior to attending
this trip. Once you are in the blinds, we don't leave the blinds until the
prairie-chickens leave the
so as not to disrupt their normal
breeding schedule. Adverse weather and birds of prey have been known to disrupt
normal lekking behavior.
Konza Prairie tour (limit
20) If the morning tour fills up, an afternoon tour to Konza Prairie will be
added.
Backroads Adventure Tour (limit 10) A much less bird intensive
morning visiting the area attractions.
Milford Lake Wetlands Tour - These tours will visit some of the
same areas as well as some woodland birding as well.
